Teacher Pay

This is a sensitive topic, but I even saw an article in the newspaper about it once. It was hard to believe that so many people think that teachers makes too much money. Maybe they don't really know how much their paychecks are. We already know that the general public has no idea about the stresses and strains that it takes to be a teacher. If you have ever been in the same room with 5 or more kids between the ages of 11 and 17, you should know what I mean. Children these days do not want to listen to authority, they think they know it all, they cannot be disciplined, and they think it is funny to get a failing grade. How do you get a child like that to raise their hand and wait to be called on? Now-a-days, they don't even want to raise their hands to answer anything. We all remember what it was like to be in school....it was just social hour. Now, multiply that feeling by 10. Then add in the fact that the majority of puberty-aged kids are having sexual interactions, have a limited curfew, have more money in their pocket (from their mom's child support check) than you do, and peer pressure of guns, gangs, smoking, and drinking. On top of all of that, we must not forget the part of the equation where the parents tell the teacher "it's your problem". Is it really even fair to limit a salary for individuals who just want to make a difference? Yes, there are people who only teach because they couldn't get a job elsewhere. There are others who just don't teach at all in the classroom. But what about the hundreds of others??? We should support teachers, not limit them.

Does a Special Diploma equal a High School Degree?

Parents all over the country are going frantic when their child brings home what they are calling a "certificate of completion." Why are so many High School students leaving school without a diploma. Well, it's that 4-letter word that everyone hates in Florida... FCAT. This is our ever so brilliant state exam for students k-12 that determines their level of competence. By 10th grade, if students cannot pass that final exam before graduation, they leave with a certificate that means absolutely nothing. There are certain students who have been previously identified as not being on grade level anyway. They are placed in a program that places them on track to receive a "special diploma" when they graduate. This diploma is not a regular high school degree. Students with this type of diploma will not be able to have the credentials neccessary to go on to college. The problem? Many parents are not finding this information out until it is too late. My advise: parents please do not give up on your children. Assist them very closely at home with their school work; and when there are meetings at the school about your child's academics, make sure you make your every effort to attend. The information is out there. It's up to us to get it.

Pyramid scams VS. Network Marketing

What really is the difference? I have researched many of them, but they seem to all do the same thing. If u are good with selling products to people whether they need it or not and can convince others to do the same, you will so well. If you are shy and unmotivated, chances are that you will not succeed as much as the rest. But all of it is up to you. Many times, it's all about who you know.....
